FILMING IN PRESCOTT
PRESCOTT — ARIZONA'S MILE-HIGH CITY AND A WESTERN FILMING CLASSIC
Prescott sits at 5,400 feet elevation in the Bradshaw Mountains and has been a production location since the early days of Hollywood Westerns. The city's historic Whiskey Row — a block of Victorian saloons and storefronts on Montezuma Street — is one of the most authentic Western streetscapes in existence, and Courthouse Plaza, the tree-lined central square framed by the 1916 Yavapai County Courthouse, provides a genuinely picturesque small-town American setting. The Granite Dells, just northeast of downtown, offer a remarkable geological landscape of rounded pink granite boulders and Watson Lake — a near-perfect reflection reservoir surrounded by rock formations — that has been used for everything from commercial shoots to drone footage reels.
Prescott's well-preserved Victorian downtown, Sharlot Hall Museum grounds, and the historic Fort Whipple area extend the location menu considerably for period and lifestyle productions. At over a mile of elevation, Prescott enjoys a four-season climate — genuine snow in winter, mild summers — which gives the city a visual character distinctly different from the Sonoran Desert below. Cinevo serves Prescott productions with advance-scheduled delivery from our Phoenix warehouse, typically 1.5 hours via the I-17 corridor.
