Tucson has one of the longest and most storied production histories of any city in the Southwest. Old Tucson Studios — a working movie ranch built in 1939 for the film Arizona — has hosted hundreds of productions over eight decades, from classic Westerns like Rio Bravo and El Dorado to contemporary commercials and TV work. The city's visual vocabulary is exceptionally rich: the two units of Saguaro National Park bracket the metro with dense saguaro forests, Sabino Canyon offers dramatic desert canyon terrain, and the Santa Catalina Mountains — rising to 9,000 feet directly behind the city — create a backdrop that changes dramatically across seasons.
The University of Arizona's main campus provides collegiate Gothic architecture and one of the most photogenic quads in the Southwest, while the Fourth Avenue and Downtown Tucson corridor offers a walkable arts district with strong independent character. Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and the adjacent AMARG aircraft boneyard — the world's largest aircraft storage facility — are significant draws for military and aviation productions with appropriate clearances. Do you deliver camera equipment to Tucson?
